Sweeties Fine Chocolate

Today, I went to Sweeties Fine Chocolate in Northampton, MA. I used to go to this place as a kid and has always held dear memories. Although the store isn't extremely large or versatile, it's classic and friendly. It has many selections of hard candy and gummies that you can weigh in a bag and eat, and an assortment of other more common and individually sold candy like Pop Rocks and chocolate gold coins. But, they also have truffles and dipped chips and pretzels and many chocolate goods!

Here's an overview of all the chocolates. I got five, but only four flavors.

I don't remember the name of this one, but it has layers of chocolate (I think it was simply called layers of chocolate or something along those lines) and it has two layers of milk chocolate and one layer of some other chocolate that has a touch of nuts. I can't tell if it's almonds or what but it's good! I also can't tell if it's salted, or if it's the salt from the salted caramel that accidentally got on it.
The one that's sort of already been eaten is a salted caramel chocolate. A little hard since it just came from my fridge, but the salt balanced the caramel really nicely!
That one there is definitely filled with almond something. It's not quite a ganache like in the Godiva truffles, but it's delicious. Probably my favorite truffle of the batch.
Then I got two tiramisu chocolates. The coffee taste is really pronounced but it's good nonetheless. The coffee aftertaste is really strong. I got two because I knew I'd like it, and I do(:

Ghelfi's Candies of Cape Cod

So, recently I visited Cape Cod, MA, where there was a little store called Candies & Ice Cream. It not only sold yummy flavors of ice cream, but also homemade chocolate made by Ghelfi's Candies of Cape Cod. The choices were incredibly varied, and although some flavors may have been cliched, the chocolates themselves were original and unique. I'm rating them on their overall quality.

I tried a few things there, but, unfortunately, seeing as it was a stop made on my way out of town, I was running a bit low of spending fees. So, although the choices were difficult, I settled on these:

The one on the top left is Milk Chocolate Bark with Sea Salt. The truffle on the top right is a Caramarsh truffle. And the rectangular truffle on the bottom is a Black Forest Truffle.

The milk chocolate bark with sea salt was the classic square of quality milk chocolate drizzled in dark chocolate and topped with a few grains of sea salt. I love sea salt on any chocolate, because it's the perfect blend of sweet and salty. It explains why chocolate-dipped pretzels are such a crowd pleaser! As far as being a homemade chocolate store, the bark sure impressed me and had nice presentation as well as taste. To anyone visiting a beach this summer, be sure to get some sea salted-chocolate! 6/10

Now, the black forest truffle was actually the first one of this set that I got to try. It was delicious! It had a design of flowers on the top, and was filled with a ganache that tasted too rich to be milk chocolate. I don't know exactly what this one was contained of, but it was probably my favorite of the three. 8/10

Then the Caramarsh Truffle was a milk chocolate shell filled with an even balance of caramel and marshmallow. The marshmallow was sort of thick and contained while the caramel was gooey and fresh. Neither overpowered the other flavor but the textures of each didn't harmonize. Although the texture itself was not my favorite, the product overall was delicious! 7/10

These chocolates were delicious and unique and I wish I could have gotten more. They were completely worth the money, although they weren't even expensive compared to many chocolate stores. If anyone visits Mashpee or Falmouth, MA, visit a Candies & Ice Cream store for these delicious treats!

Bakery Dessert Truffles Part One

Molten Lava Cake (Chocolate Lava Cake): Yummy! Already reviewed as chocolate of the month! This one didn't taste as fresh and didn't have as much of an exploding taste as the one I had in the store. But it was still pretty good! It had the same exploding chocolate taste and it's still an 8/10.
Molten Lava Cake/Chocolate Lava Cake truffle! You can really tell it has a cakey substance!

Cheesecake: This one had one half of its interior a cheesecakey flavor, and the other half having a cheesecake crust flavor. It tasted just like the classic cheesecake that everyone knows and loves! Wrapped in a milk chocolate shell and topped with chopped pecans, this truffle was delicious, subtle, and it met almost all of my expectations. I expected a bit more of a cheesecake flavor that was more cheesy. I ate this one along with the carrot cake and they both are topped with nuts, so I got them confused, and I couldn't tell that this one was the cheesecake and the other one was carrot cake untill I reached the crust taste. 8.5/10!

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
That's right. The white is the cheesecakee and the crustt is the brown part!!

Carrot Cake: I couldn't really distinguish this flavor between the Cheesecake flavor because, as you may have read, I got them confused at first. It's flavor wasn't particularly original. I'm not big on carrot cake, I haven't tasted it as recently as I've had cheesecake, but it tasted very similar to the carrot cake I can remember! 7/10 (Sorry for the lack of a visual display!)

New Caramel Apple Gems!!

Ever tried a caramel apple? You know the ones you get at fairs thats an apple dipped and covered in delicious caramel?? They're SOO GOOD?!?!? Can you imagine that in a TRUFFLE? Well Godiva did! And although it's not available for individual sale, you can buy them in the Gems Gift Bag! This is what Godiva has to to say about them: "Our new Caramel Apple Gems are the perfect blend of tangy and sweet, tart and chocolaty. They're individually wrapped in smaller sizes so you can enjoy decadent chocolate snacks anytime, anywhere. They're perfect for many different occasions - hostess and teacher gifts, birthday celebrations, saying thank you, or just because. 18 pcs. (6.5oz.)" I'm really looking forward to trying them! For some reason when I imagine their taste, I imagine a granny apple taste, but I don't think it will taste like that at all...at least I kind of hope it doesnt!! I don't think that would taste very good in chocolate. But I expect it to definitely have caramel and a granny appple taste. I can't wait to try it!!

I'm definitely trying this the next time I go to Godiva in perhaps mid-October-ishhh..so hopefully they won't end them before then!!

Milk Chocolate Truffle, Pecan Caramel Review and News on the Bakery Dessert Truffles

I purchased 7 truffles today! I purchased all of the Bakery Dessert Truffles, and I received a Milk Chocolate Truffle I guess as my free chocolate of the month. I didn't choose this truffle to be my monthly truffle...I've alreayd tasted this truffle, so it's not that big of a deal. But I still have pictures, and I will briefly rate it! And

I'm SO excited about the Bakery Dessert Truffles! However, I'm probably going to be posting their reviews separately or I'll review them all at the same time, but it will take a little while. This is because I only have a few truffles to last me until October. I want to try to savor these, so it might take a little while. If I at some point got a lot at a time, then I won't need to wait! But, those will be arriving eventually.

I'm not going to review the Pecan Caramel Truffles but I'll tell you that they were very good. I don't see a point in reviewing them because they're not available for purchase any more. But I would rate them an easy 8.5/10! I'll try from now on to make my reviews more prompt so that you'll still have time to try them!

The milk chocolate truffle is not limited edition, so you can purchase it any time, or you can buy a bag of milk chocolate gems. They are very good, and very creamy. They have an original taste, too. There are small chunks of solid chocolate inside the ganache center. It's not very original but it's yummy! I'd rate it an easy 8/10.
